Since September 2010, the TAD 6550A-STR has been manufactured with a stronger and exceptionally pure anode mat. Thanks to the extensive TAD burn-in and forming process, the 6550A-STR offers unparalleled consistency and stability, even surpassing the 6550C.
This tube is perfect for critical applications like the Ampeg SVT (use only without a tube holder!). The TAD 6550A-STR features a heavy, straight glass envelope, a polished metal base, and the original triple getter construction. The result is a balanced tube known for its impressive bass and rich midrange.
With smooth, fluid bass and a natural tone, this tube has a wide, open character, making it extremely popular for bass guitar amplifiers and high-end hi-fi applications.
